We are happy to announce the new release of SMARTUNIFIER Version 1.3.0

What’s new in 1.3.0?

This release comes with many additional features which make the integration process of industrial devices, equipment, and IT-systems even more convenient, efficient, and secure. Especially the usability of the Graphical User Interface was improved in several aspects to enhance the integration experience with SMARTUNIFIER.

Backup and restore

With the new backup and restore features, customers are now able to easily save and retrieve their complete configuration repositories via the SMARTUNIFIER Manager User Interface. The new clone feature, which is available for all configuration components and deployment endpoints makes it very easy to reuse and adapt data structures represented with SMARTUNIFIER Information Models.

High availability setup

Another new feature within Version 1.3.0 is that SMARTUNIFIER is now capable to be operated in a high-availability (HA) mode using two or more redundant SMARTUNIFIER Communication Instances. Using the HA setup of SMARTUNIFIER, the overall availability of the system can be increased, which is especially important when connecting to mission-critical devices, equipment, or IT-systems. To illustrate this feature, an HA-Demonstrator is available as a complete demo package. The demonstrator allows users to simulate the connection between a critical production equipment and database using two SMARTUNIFIER Communication Instances together with a load balancer.

Security

The security of SMARTUNIFIER was further enhanced: SMARTUNIFIER Communication Instances can now be encrypted at any deployment location (on-premise, cloud) so that configuration files with sensitive data are protected from unauthorized access.
